At the Resort, at Laitkynsew We have been receiving nominal rains unlike in July since 5th July 2009. We are heading for a major deficit in rainfall this month too. Experiencing very dry weather. Temperatures are up. Rains come very little at night. For the tourists it is time to enjoy baths in springs, mountain streams and waterfalls. We have received 85.8 mm of rainfall in March 2009 against an average for March of 326.6 mm. The average rainfall for April is 835.3 mm. This April 2009 we have received 636.2 mm. The average rainfall for May is 1339.1 mm. This May 2009 we have received 1001.2 mm of rainfall. In June 2009 we have received 1299.8 mm of rainfall against an average of 2508.1 mm for June. In July we have received 1764.4 mm till today, 25th July 2009 against an average of 3185.7 mm for the month. Of this 1171.2 mm has been received in the first four days of the month. The rate at which rain is coming from 5th July onwards, is a matter of great concern. It also is confirming my observation that we get heavy rainfall on fewer days that makes up for the total but the remaining days are getting meagre rainfall compared to how it was many years before. This year the weather is topsy turvy indeed. If you are a City Street Walker, we invite you to take your morning walk here to sample the fresh clean air. The early birds chirp merrily to welcome the day in. The forests get filled with the harmonious singing of birds and insects and the discerning person will not fail to notice how magnificient is our natural living environment. The cicadas are unusually quieter this year after their early whistling at the beginning of the rainy season. The cicadas are the harbingers of rain. I don't hear them these days. The less than normal rainfall seem to have to have affected them. The Cicadas are the most merry celebrants of rain and the monsoon season. We have many interesting walks and treks around our place. If you are someone who feels touched by the magnificience of nature and feels deeply stirred, this is a place for you. If the drabness of the City is getting on you, it is time to take off here. Let not City Life rob you of the joys of being close to nature. Get your family bonds renewed by taking off on a Holiday with Nature. Trek to the Living Root Bridges, Bathe in the mountain stream, Swim in Natural Swimming Pools. The treks to the Living Root Bridges and to the natural swimming pools are some of the best treks around here. The Living Root Bridges including the Double Decker Root Bridge are superb bio-engineering wonders that are very exclusive to this area. You don’t get them anywhere else in the world. The charm of the trek is enhanced by a bath in the mountain stream flowing under the bridge or going for swim in the crystal clear water of our natural swimming pools after the trek to the Double Decker Root Bridge.
