Indeed, this place & people are incredible. I did not imagine such a heavenly place exists at such a far flung place. Your imaginative creation of infrastructure is praiseworthy, esp. when it is topped with your smiles & simplicity.
God Bless this godly place & people.

Dear Mr.Denis,
We could not have imagined Cherrapunjee without Cherrapunjee Holiday Resort. It’s homely, very comfortable and cozy. Your staff deserves appreciation.
From our area rarely anyone visits this part of India. It’s very vibrant & peaceful & we shall recommend our friends / kids to visit this area.
Keep it up & best wishes.

The hospitality and the warmth of the folks around here can be seen no where in India. The smallest gesture of serving water, entertaining the guests with folk music, and in general the care for the guests is very touching. The resort itself has the best location in the whole of NE (very little of what I’ve seen) and truly amazing people.
You guys have done a fantastic job.

It is quite thoughtful of Mr.Denis to have conceived this idea of Cherra Resort in the organic environs of Cherra hills. His background as a seasoned banker and his marriage to local Khasi girl has made it possible to open vistas & opening Khasi culture to the world. Cherrapunjee has a brand name around the world for heaviest rainfall. He knows how to encash brand & give trickle down effect to the tribal population for their economic development.
I am happy to see a fellow ex-colleague of PNB successful in self employment after his self chosen pre-mature retirement. I wish him all success & Godspeed.

A home in clouds
Cherrapunjee Holiday Resort along with caring staff provided us a home in true sense in course of our honeymoon in clouds from 26th July ’07 to 2nd August ’07. We came to enjoy Cherrapunjee to enjoy our honeymoon in an eco-resort, in the lap of nature amidst clouds. But we were rewarded in surplus, being provided with a family and a home in true spirit. Our nature walk through the bounties of mountains in the midst of heavy downpour till the Mawshamok village 3 kms downhill, the idle evenings lounging over steaming cups of lemon tea and listening to music, our stroll through the neighbouring Laitkynsew and Nongwar villages, our trip to the local village “Haat” on Saturday, witnessing landslides, our trek down the mossy slopes of the mountains to the “Living Root Bridge” (3 Kms downhill) along with the local village guide duly arranged by sir Denis Rayen touched us. Over our stay we were moved seeing his sincere efforts & desire for community building to convert this place into a global village. He provided opportunites to the local Khasi villagers by allowing them a platform to entertain and interact with guests from all over the world by singing for them in the evening, his involvement with the local villagers in their daily chores of life, his spending time with the villagers when someone from the local village passes away, providing conveyance to fulfill their needs as far as possible sends the message of the joy of life to live along with everyone. Our chat over the dinner table, listening to his life-time experiences, his days of hardship, his iron determination to chase his dream indeed made our trip very inspiring & motivating. The manner in which he is slowly training the villagers to cater guests, addressing their basic needs, along with the touch of traditional culture made our stay in this resort indeed unique. We pay our heart-felt note of thanks & gratitude to sir Denis Rayen not only for building this lovely resort in such a magnificient location but also for making our honeymoon a successful & inspiring trip which subtly taught us many important minute details of life, echoing that if the basic needs of life are well-addressed without any extravagance, then every other detail automatically falls well in place making things most beautiful a person can ever imagine. Leaving behind our memories safely preserved on the mountain walls, we eagerly look forward to visit this place again and again. With sincere regards and heart-felt thanks to sir Denis Rayen & all the staff. Sincere Wishes.

Cherra Resort is a working model of nature tourism. Mr.Rayen’s work is pioneering. The potential of tourism in the Northeast could be harnessed if his way is followed. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

It’s our second visit to ‘Cherrapunjee Holiday Resort’. Every time we experience new thrills and there has been lot of fun, specially in the evenings with the local band and us participating with them. This time we could not make it to the ‘Living Root Bridge’. So, we will come back again to discover a new “Cherrapunjee”. Thanks to Mr.Denis and his team of workers. Keep up the good work.

It has been an excellent experience to be here. Apart from the pristine beauty of the nature around, the ambience and the service of the resort has added to the joy of the holiday. The food here is really amazing. The joy of trekking and the cordial warmth of the people here touched our heart. We would love to come here again at the nearest opportunity. Thank You.
