We have presently, six well-furnished rooms with vitrified tile flooring, with attached tiled toilets with 24 hours running hot and cold water.  We also have three La-Fuma Dome Tents that can be used during the dry months only. Each Tent has its own independent toilet and bath. There is abundant supply of water all throughout the year.  Electric supply situation is very good and reliable. We have standby Genset and Inverter power supply.

Dome Tents

Dome Tents are usually pitched within the Resort premises and can also be used for camping out in scenic picnic / angling spots that form part of the Nature Treks that are on offer.  A comfortable Bed with a thick mattress is laid out with three warm blankets inside the Dome Tent and is very comfortable to sleep in.  For camping out, you need to have your own sleeping bags. November to early March till the start of the pre-monsoon rains are ideal for camping out. Please look up 'Current Status' for recent weather information.

Our Service Staff are young Khasi men and women from the villages around us.  Our village youth, for whom music comes easy, enliven your evenings with well sung melodious Khasi songs and you are invited to dance to their beat.  Feel and enjoy your holiday as you dance to their music. The camaraderie with guests from around the World around warm bonfires under a starry sky is something you will remember for long.  It is our endeavour to bring new employment opportunities to our people living around us.  Come and enjoy an exotic holiday in the lap of nature and feel the warmth of traditional Khasi hospitality. We are promoting our Resort as a Family Holiday Destination

How to Contact Us

Our Telephone Exchange is out of order since 11th May 2008 because they have disconnected the Exchange's microwave link to provide link to the CellOne Mobile tower. Since 24th December 2008, though we get full signal of CellOne in our mobiles, to get an incoming call or make an outgoing call has become a miracle. Our CellOne number is  094361 15925.  We have now Aircel and Reliance connections to somehow remain connected. Aircel - 096153 38500 and Reliance -098630 79856.

The functioning of the Exchange is likely to happen only after Optical Fibre Cable is laid to link the Exchange to the grid.  We have been given to understand that the work order had been issued.  We are waiting with our fingers crossed when we can get the Telephone Exchange going again, given the apathy of those who are in charge of its functioning. Even the Private Mobile Service Providers are not able to give dependable service.   If you have International Roaming of some other Mobile Service Providers, you can be reached through Bangladesh's Mobile networks. We have VSAT uplink and wifi connectivity is provided at the Resort. So you can surely reach us through an e-mail.

What the Travel Guide Books Say About Us?

International Travel Guide Books such as 'The Lonely Planet', 'The Rough Guides', 'Let's Go' and Domestic  Guide Book 'The Outlook Traveler' give us a favourable recommendation. 'Footprints' haven't been here yet.

'Lonely Planet Northeast India' has this to say about us:

"Better than any of this is descending the narrow road to Mawshamok for views back up to the falls and cliffs.  Few places in the Northeast are more scenic, and joyously it's possible to stay at an eco-friendly lodge just 3 km further along the ridge in Laitkynsew.  The six-room Cherrapunjee Holiday Resort (Ph-03637-244218); www.cherrapunjee.com is run by truly delightful hosts who offer a selection of hikes either self oriented (using their hand drawn maps) or with a local guide.  The most exciting of these is to seek out three absolutely incredible Tolkienesque 'root-bridges', living ficus elastica tree-roots that ingenious Khasi villagers have trained across streams to form natural pathways.  Three of these root bridges, including an amazing 'Double Decker', are near Nongriat. Access requires at least 1½ - hour's steep trek down from Tyrna, a pretty, palm-clad village 5 km from the resort, 2 km from Mawshamok. Beware that for even the fittest walker, this hike is highly strenuous and en route there's a truly hair-raising wire bridge to cross.  But the scenery is magnificient.

The Cherrapunjee Holiday Resort also encourages summer 'monsoon tourists' to come and experience first-hand the full drama of the world's rainiest place; its unforgettable thunder and dramatic brewing storms. Page - 218.

'Let's Go' has this to say about us:

"The best accommodation in the area is undoubtedly the unique Cherrapunjee Holiday Resort (3), in the Khasi village of Laitkynsew, 20 km outside of Cherrapunjee. A taxi from Cherrapunjee Market will cost Rs.200/=. Run by a former banker turned environmentalist, this place is very relaxing and familial. Large rooms with comfortable furniture and hot showers feel like home - except they have amazing views of waterfalls (Mar-Oct) and the Bangladesh floodplains. Nearby spring baths and plentiful options for trekking, caving and angling provide ways to take in the scenery."

'The Rough Guides' has this to say about us:

"Good Accommodation and food are available at the stunningly located Cherrapunjee Holiday Resort (T) 03637/244218, 244219, 244220 (W) www.cherrapunjee.com; perched on the edge of the East Khasi Hills with excellent views to the plains of Bangladesh below. From here you can explore some fascinating 150 year old Living Root Bridges, Cool Springs, Waterfalls, Caves and Khasi Villages."

Payment in Foreign Currencies

We accept payment in US Dollars, British Pounds, Euros and Yens.  We get current exchange rates from Internet, our bank or the local newspapers. Recently both our bankers have done away with Foreign Exchange Dealership.  Therefore, presently, it is taking time for us to get the foreign currencies exchanged.  If it is possible for you to exchange foreign currencies exchanged for Indian Rupees before you reach the Resort, it will help us at the current juncture.  If you can't, don't bother. We shall accept them. We are not able to accept Bangladeshi Takka since there is no facility with our Banks to exchange the same.

Payments through Credit / Debit Cards can be possible only after the Exchange becomes functional again

Due to the  non-functioning of the Telephone Exchange, we can accept payments through your Credit / Debit Cards only after the Exchange becomes operational again.   Please bear with us for the inconvenience.
